Welcome to Château Papounan, an elegant 19th-century bourgeois manor with neoclassical lines, nestled in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe vineyards in the Médoc, at the foot of our own vines. Surrounded by renowned wine châteaux, we are just 25 minutes from the Atlantic beaches and one hour from Bordeaux.
While we are lucky enough to enjoy lovely views over the Gironde estuary, what our guests seem to appreciate most is the warm welcome. They often tell us they feel like they are staying with old friends.
We love sharing our passion for the region — helping guests discover local wine estates, recommending good restaurants, and sometimes even sharing a glass of wine in the garden. We tend our own parcel of vines : after the winter pruning, trellising, lifting and the September grape harvest, the grapes join those of the local cooperative to produce the "Marquis de Saint-Estèphe".
