History of the Castle

The château takes its name from the Papounan path, which crosses the eponymous vineyard located at the rear of the property. Built at the end of the 19th century, it long belonged to the Merigot Vennat family, under the name of Domeyne Castle, which still exists and produces an excellent wine under the Saint-Estéphe appellation.

Towards the end of the 20th century, the Leemann family, originally from Switzerland, bought it and added an extension to the south and converted the attic. Since October 2022, we have been the owners of Château Papounan and welcomed our first guests on the evening of December 31st.
