Château Pédesclaux: A hidden gem to discover

Last week, we had the immense pleasure of visiting Château Pédesclaux, a true gem nestled between Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac. To fully appreciate the splendor of the blend of modern glass and traditional Bordeaux stone, you have to experience it firsthand. The reception rooms are magnificent, and the view of the river is breathtaking. We were so captivated by the beauty of the place that we forgot to take any photos!

Château Pédesclaux in Pauillac, Grand Cru Classé of the Médoc, a modern building with glass facades and a central stone section, surrounded by green vineyards under a blue sky, in the Bordeaux wine region.

The Château Pédesclaux winery represents an architectural and technological feat. Created in collaboration with the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, it preserves the aromas of the grapes thanks to a completely gravity-driven elevator system, similar to that seen at Cos d'Estournel and Lynch Bages.

The combination of ultra-modern steel vats with stone, wood and glass offers a captivating experience; the Pédesclaux winery is one of the most beautiful we have visited.

Art is everywhere at Château Pédesclaux: from paintings in the castle rooms to sculptures in the park and the wine cellar.

We are delighted by this discovery which concluded with lunch in the park of Château Lilian Ladouys enjoying steaks from the Pigout butcher shop in Saint-Estèphe.

Chateau Pédesclaux, a grand cru classé in 1855, is now among the must-try wines recommended by Château Papounan.
